This is why you don’t try to do a recruiting video on your own. The sound is bad, the background music is too loud and you can’t hear the people being interviewed well (not to mention lyrics make it more difficult – it is like trying to hear two people at once), subjects too far from the camera, camera shack (no tripod) at times, and the white balance looks off. It does not look very professional and so it reflects on the company poorly.

This is a 2 minute 20 second video (approximately) that lets you hear from Cottage Country…what they love, what they do, etc. You get to meet them…this is an “about us” kind of video. You meet Jan, Logan, and Blain. It is great to hear their story, but I am not sure if they are the owners or employees. If I call Cottage Country, will it be one of them I speak with (I hope so). Who are they? I am not sure.

“ReloMary (Mary Lascelles) will assemble your selling, buying and moving team.” This is a short, 1-minute video of Mary speaking about what she does as a moving coordinator/relocation director…and that she is the one stop resource for anything that needs to be moved. It ends with her contact info, including her LinkedIn and Twitter accounts.

This is the first of this kind of video I have seen…it is a virtual job shadow. Omar is a Cell Leader and Field Engineer Trainee (FET) at Schlumberger Well Services in Oklahoma. He supervises other Field Engineers working on Fracture Stimulation jobs, during which various substances are injected at high speeds and pressures into prospective oil or gas wells to stimulate production. You see him on a job.

This is another video mainly for a online yellow pages listing, but these simple videos are effective. This is a 1 minute video that interviews the owner of this plumbing company. You find out how long they have been in business, what geographic areas they serve, what services they provide, etc. He says he is a second generation plumber and then a little bit of personality/humor…this is a good thing. Don’t be afraid to let you personality shine in a video. This makes him more human and personable…well on the way to know, like, and trusting him. Furthermore, he goes onto his promise of not having any employees that he would not feel comfortable allowing into his home. Sounds good!
