This 1 minute 30 second video is a commercial…and instantly feels like one from the start of the video. I suspect a lot of people stopped watching in the first 25 seconds. People on the internet and watching videos online are not there to watch your commercials…they are looking for something for themselves (what is in it for the viewer). This video is on the home page of their website…but it would fit better on TV. People expect commercials on TV (and they don’t watch them there either).

This is a 1 minute recruiting video to get call center people. Pretty much all that is said is what the company does and what the duties are for a customer service rep. At least I get to see the office space a little. Basically, this is a pitch from a recruiter. I don’t believe him…do you?

This is a 45 second “about us” video. They say what they specialize in (good) and a not totally believable statement (because it comes from her) that they are in the top 10% producers in the Portland Metro. I really did not learn much about them. Not to mention she is stiff, with no personality. I did not come away feeling I know her or the company any better.

This video is about working at Agilent…and really says nothing at all. Furthermore, it is too long – 6 minutes and 33 seconds. It should have been at least 2 videos, not one. Nothing was said about what it is like to work for Agilent the first three and a half minutes…it was all the typical jargon (it is a place to grow, premiere company, creative corporation, etc.) that everyone else says as well and statistics and facts about the company (which really does not tell me about them or how it is to work for them).

This is a 10 minute and 40 second video. I think this is a poor recruiting video. Potential applicants are looking for information…quickly…not to watch a movie with lousy actors. After a couple minutes of nothing, a trucker has a thermo king unit problem and calls to repair. It sounds so scripted and artificial. I am not bored and irritated…and have learned nothing about the company or opportunities there are for me.
