Looking into the World of Online Videos for Marketing & Recruiting…and other stuff.
This is a 1 minute and 20 second “commercial”. I suppose this is better than nothing, but little was said that another bank could not say as well. You hear about their history, location, and size. You hear that people who fit best care about their customers and co-workers (which is pretty much a requirement to fit in anywhere). You hear they have the same benefits that a larger company offers. It is only towards the end of the video (1 minute into it) that she finally says what she likes about working for this company (she is a recruiter by the way – so it is not really believable when she says how great it is working there).
This 5 minute 29 second video is a little long for my tastes, but pretty good. It is aimed at entry level people, and you get to meet a few to hear from them. Unfortunately, you see a list of core competencies that every company wants – problem solving and analytics, leadership and initiative, client relationship building, and professional presence and communication skills. The analytics is more specific to this position, but the rest are what every company is looking for. Fortunately, and not a bad idea for the video, they then have some lower level hires talk about their experience of these key factors and what they mean.
This is a 33 second video used in their recruiting efforts. I like the video and concept, but I am not sure about the wrinkly white backdrop in a studio for all but the last shot. Why not do this in the store…in different locations? This would have given a tour of the store at the same time.
This is a seven minute video…a long in my opinion. After 3 minutes I was bored and it started sounding like I had heard it before already. The video would have more success and be more effective if it was shorter and more focused.
This is a self made, 3 minute and 5 second recruiting video. Like pretty much every self made video I have seen…the technical aspects are bad. The sound over modulates, the lighting is bad, and the looking upward angle is not pleasant (as he is looking down at you – literally – the whole time)…at least it is stable video. It was a webcam…not a video recorder on a tripod. The content itself is pretty good.
